Public hearing set on Dunedin Causeway bridges project

Pinellas County, in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation, will conduct a public hearing pertaining to the Dunedin Causeway Bridges project on Wednesday, March 11, at the Hale Activity Center, 330 Douglas Ave., Dunedin. An open house will take place at 5:30 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.

Dunedin Causeway connects the Dunedin mainland with Ward Island and Honeymoon Island and is a popular recreation area for fishing, paddling, sailing and running/bicycling. The project consists of replacing the causeway’s moveable, low-level main bridge with a movable mid-level bridge and a fixed low-level tide relief bridge with a similar bridge.

The public hearing will allow citizens an opportunity to discuss project impacts, including the effects on the recreation areas. A court reporter will be available to receive comments in a one-on-one setting before and after the formal portion of the meeting. Citizens may also submit written statements to Nancy McKibben, Project Manager, Pinellas County Public Works, 14 S. Fort Harrison Avenue, 6th Floor, Clearwater, FL 33756, or nmckibben@pinellascounty.org. All statements postmarked on or before March 23 will become part of the public hearing record.
