Beckett Bridge drawbridge repairs completed
Beckett Bridge drawbridge in Tarpon Springs has been repaired and can be opened again for tall mast boats.
The bridge, which spans Whitcomb Bayou on Riverside Drive, had been kept in the closed position for approximately two weeks because of a broken part that had to be special ordered. The bridge was never closed to vehicle or pedestrian traffic.
Beckett Bridge is the only drawbridge of its kind in Pinellas County, featuring a single-leaf movable span rather than the standard double-leaf span. It is also one of the oldest rolling-leaf bridges in the country.
