Mapping, Wetlands Workshop for Teachers Apr. 2nd
Learn how to use aerial photographs, topographic and habitat maps to teach science, geography and math standards to middle, elementary and high school students as well as the general public at this workshop set for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sat. April 2, at the Clam Bayou Nature Preserve in Gulfport.
Presented by Wetland Education Through Maps and Aerial Photographs (www.wetmaap.org), the workshop will provide teachers with resources and skills to teach about changes in local wetlands. Topics covered include the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico Alliance, use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS), review of Wetland Functions and Values and more. Participants will receive a set of maps, aerial photos, instructional binder and toolkit worth $100 dollars--AND LUNCH!
