Webinar Focuses on Role of Microbes in Gulf Oil Spill

Join COSEE Oceen Systems for a research-based Online Learning Event (ROLE) Model Webinar:
Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill: The Role of Microbes, March 23rd at 7pm ET

On April 20, 2010, there was an explosion on the Deepwater Horizion offshore oil drilling rig that led to the largest offshore oil spill in United States history. Now, nearly a year after the accident, scientists are still investigating the impact and the processes affecting the Gulf of Mexico Ecosystem. Dr. Kjell Gundersen and Dr. Karen Orcutt from the University of Southern Mississippi will share recent findings on the role of the microbial community on the oil-impacted areas as well as an update on the state of the Gulf after this unprecedented event. The webinar presenters will use a concept-map to present, and there will be time for questions after the presentation. A short demonstration about how to keep a copy of the resource-rich multimedia concept map is also included.
