GIS Day at USF on November 17th
USF Tampa campus is hosting GIS Day at the Marshall Student Center from 10 am to 2 pm on November 17th, 2010. More than one million people across the globe rely on geographic information system (GIS) technology to solve problems and make better decisions by thinking and planning geographically. GIS combines computer hardware, software, and data to collect, manage, and analyze geographic information. GIS in the Tampa Bay area is used daily by federal, state and local government agencies and private firms who work on a variety of projects to improve our communities. These projects include wetland analysis, water assessments, transportation improvements, real property mapping, emergency planning, asset inventory and tree canopy analysis. Come browse displays from local GIS organizations to see how we use GIS in your area.
