State of the Bay Addressed at National Estuaries Day Celebration This Saturday

National Estuaries Day will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center.

The State of the Bay will include a discussion by Nanette O'Hara of the Tampa Bay Estuary Program and Chris Anderson of the Florida Wildlife Research Institute. They will share the special attributes of the bay, how and why it has improved, what special habitats and inhabitants it supports, and what you can do to help maintain that progress.

Tampa Bay was designated by Congress as an "estuary of national significance," as the economic and environmental centerpiece of the region.
