Q & A on Lessons Learned from the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Disaster

For 49 days, we've been transfixed by the daily drama in the Gulf of Mexico. But last week, a veteran of the Exxon Valdez oil spill came to USF's College of Marine Science to help researchers here prepare for the long haul.

Dr. Phillip Mundy works for the Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute in Juneau, Alaska. He says 20 years after the Exxon Valdez disaster, you can still find spilled oil in Prince William Sound. So he says we better get ready to clean up the Gulf for a very long time. He spoke with WUSF's Steve Newborn.
