Boyd Hill Nature Preserve
This park is an oasis of native flora and fauna in south St. Petersburg. It features more than 3 miles of trails and boardwalk through 5 ecosystems: hardwood hammocks, sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, willow marsh, and lake shore.
The park is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail and is a great place to observe a variety of raptors, shore birds, and migratory species. Boyd Hill also has an aviary that's home to permanently injured birds of prey, including an eagle, turkey vultures, hawks, and owls.
Camping, picnic areas, playgrounds, and the Lake Maggiore Education Center provide plenty of opportunities for recreation...and maybe a little learning too!
