Cross Bayou / Joe's Creek Cleanup Site

Pinellas County Environmental Management has organized several Cross Bayou Clean-Up events in conjunction with Keep Pinellas Beautiful. The Clean-Up efforts take place in the spring and fall each year. Volunteers with canoes, kayaks, and small boats remove trash and debris from the waterway and surrounding wetlands. Volunteers also worked on land. The efforts have been very successful.  During the first event in the fall of 2000, thirty participants collected over 1.6 tons of trash.  In the spring of 2009, 147 participants collected over 4.63 tons of debris which included almost 1 ton of materials that were recycled (glass, paper, aluminum, and plastic).  If you want to participate in the next cleanup event email watershed@pinellascounty.org to be added to our cleanup notification email list.
